The doctrine of unjust enrichment prevents one party from retaining benefits unfairly at another’s expense. This article examines Section 70 of the Indian Contract Act and analyses APTEL’s evolving jurisprudence on restitution, quasi-contracts and compensation for electricity supplied without an enforceable contract.
